Help with landscape lighting.

So i recently moved into a new house, and the previous tenant had some less then working lighting still in place. So this morning I take a look at the transformers (3 In total, 1 front 2 back) and the front one powered right up, just had to flip the switch. The first one In the back was missing a fuse, so I replaced it and it worked. And the second one in the back also powered things successfully, just the timer screen on it isn't working, but when flipped to test/manual, lights on that one worked also. So as I found some lights weren't powering on, and come to find out that it wasn't bulbs, but wiring wasn't either connected or connected properly. I spent a few hours trying to make sense of all the wore runs, before now settling on screw it, I'll do my own. So to do the first run, I got 100ft 12 gauge cable, have it laid out successfully, and I wired it in to the transformer I assume correctly, as it's following the instructions. Anyway, because I haven't quite put my finger on how to manually wire everything to the main cable run using the typical wore stops/connectors, I picked up some "Portfolio Outdoors cable to fixture adapters", as they seem they would work. Come to find out during installation, that I'm not 100% sure how to wire the fixture into the contact plate on the adapter, and am having a really hard time punching through the 12 gauge wire. So any help or tips are appreciated.
