Two Rhododendron Purple Gems I planted four weeks ago are dying and I was hoping one of you could offer some advice. I have zero experience with landscaping or gardening. When planting, I followed the instructions listed on the plant's tag:
- dig hole as large as root ball
- back fill with half existing soil half new soil
- top of with 2" of mulch keeping mulch away from base of plant
- water thoroughly
- fertilize with evergreen fertilizer
- I didn't check PH levels because I didn't know what was a thing that I had to do
The bushes seemed to do well for the first week but then I had to travel for three weeks, so the bushes may not have been watered regularly, though I believe there was rain about once a week.
Here are four images of the plants.
If you are able to provide advice that saves the plants, I will name the in your honor. There may even be a plaque involved.
