Summer is here, with long sunny days and warm nights. I’ve always dreamed of living by the ocean, so I’ve created the next best thing. I’ve decorated my living room in a coastal theme, and you can do it too with a few key pieces.

The easiest and most affordable way to bring in a new theme is to use decorative toss pillows. Now is the time to find beautiful pillows adorned with sea creatures, like starfish, sand dollars, and lobsters. I’ve used a palette of white, navy, and blue in my living room.

I found this gorgeous blue glass vase and added palm leaves, which tie in with the colors in my pillows and give a pop of color to my console table.

A pale-washed basket works well as a coffee table centerpiece and holds a few more accessories to help you feel like you’re lounging by the beach.

I used an old piece of bead board to paint a fun sign that feels like something you would see seaside. I hung it above this driftwood inspired console table, and topped it with pale blue glass vases. They remind me of the pieces of bottle glass you might find washed up on the shore.

Finally, I added more blue glass, a couple starfish, and this adorable cream octopus to my mantel.

I hope you’ve been inspired to create your own little coastal getaway in your home. Leave a comment, and let me know what you think of this space.
