Tropical or forest like plants that are snow tolerant?

Hi all

I am fixing up the front of my house and looking to put some plants/trees in to finish up. I am in the Norway and it is a north facing side so sunlight is not abundant (no moss problems though so it's not that bad). I'm originally from New Zealand and would love to bring some feeling of a bach/cabin or a house by the sea to my home, only problem is I live where it snows 1/3 of the year and I know that it's a pretty unrealistic dream.

Does anyone have any tips or idea about types of plants that I could plant that will hold up to the winter here?

I am currently considering potting a bunch of mid size Yucca plants and then bringing them in when the temps start to get below 10c, but I'd rather find more appropriate plants that can handle being outside.

I've also considered forgoing the beach dream and aiming for more of a bush/forest look. I have seen a lot of ferns that grow wild in my area so I know that it is possible that could survive the winters.
