I am looking for some input on a potential family job I may be taking. This picture is for the backyard of the home, and it is right next to a stone patio and underneath a window.
The property was recently purchased, and family wants to redo the entire lawn. It was looked at by a few landscapers and all felt there was grading to be done.
I am not a professional landscaper, having worked a few summers with a crew. The lawn certainly needs some fill, and probably aeration and soil amendment and overseeding, etc...
Where I am not comfortable is figuring out what to do with a spot like this. What is the proper thing to do with the lawn coming under the window like this? Does it just need some soil added to it for proper grade?
The house does have gutters as you can see in the picture. There is no major drainage issues with rain, and the basement doesn't flood or let water in.
I have all summer to figure out what to do with it, I just don't know if I am getting myself in over my head or not. What would you guys all do with this spot?
Location: Midwest
Soil conditions: haven't run soil test at all, but it is mostly loamy/clay old, unmaintained turf.
Budget: Approx 1k dollars in materials and supplies
Experience level: Entry level landscaping

Edit:
Some more pictures of the lawn I am looking at. Any input on how to approach would be appreciated!
