I am in need to some real guidance. My family and I live in a pretty normal suburban house in Texas, we have neighbors on both sides of our back yard. The houses are all tall 2 stories so there is virtually no privacy.
When we first moved in 1 year ago, I planted some small 8 foot tall live oaks on the fence line of the side of the backyard. I was hoping that they would grow over time and eventually give me privacy. I planted 2 trees maybe 10 feet apart. They are currently providing me with no privacy whatsoever.
However, my neighbor on the other side (in an attempt to gain privacy from us I assume) planted a large crepe and wax myrtles hedge. They are already proving him with more privacy as they are "broader" and more dense at the top above the fence.
So now I'm confused as to what to do, should I replant the trees somewhere else and go with a shrub privacy hedge, or should I stick with the tree hedge.... the goal is obviously privacy from the large 2 story home next to us.
