Whether I’m decorating an entire room or simply styling a coffee table, I always like to include something quirky and unexpected. Why? Unique and surprising elements help to personalize a space. Plus, they give your home a more relaxed and comfortable feel.

In this post I’m going to share a few décor ideas to help you keep things quirky.
1. Animals
From small brass elephants to a white moose head, animal-inspired accessories are a great way to add whimsy to a room.

I’ve included several around my home with my current favorites being the gold unicorn bust above my bed and the vintage brass cat in my living room.

Find your spirit animal and use it in a big or little way in your home.
2. Pillows
If you’ve been to HomeGoods, you know they sell incredible pillows. And with their affordable prices, you can easily inject some fun personality into any space.

I love these tribal-inspired pillows I recently found.

They are woven with a metallic gold material. Unexpected bling is always a win in my book.
3. Mixed Metals
Speaking of gold, quirky doesn’t need to be as literal as a moose head or funky pillow.

As I touched upon in my Rustic Charm Tablescape post, mixing metal finishes is an easy way to add uniqueness to your styling.

Here, galvanized, black and gold come together to create an interesting, collected look.
4. Art Prints
You can get a little more literal with your quirkiness, thanks to the plethora of prints on the market today.

Of course, HomeGoods has a fabulous selection, but you can also find free printables online from many bloggers.

Recently, I shared this cute caticorn printable on my blog, reminding readers to always be themselves.
5. Planters
Make your quirky accessories work for you. Using funky objects and containers for plants or storage is another way to bring the unexpected to your spaces. Remember the vertical herb garden I created from a magazine rack?

With a little creativity, water pitchers can become vases, vases can function as pencil jars and glass trays can be transformed into tabletop gardens.

While there are certainly many more ways to add a bit of fun and whimsy to your styling, I hope you found a few of my tips and tricks helpful.
