I'm renting a mini-excavator (39" Kubota model # KX-018) to dig up a previously-landscaped yard. I need to dig about 2' down into soil that has about 3" of compacted stone dust (compacted with a plate vibrator probably) atop soil that has moderate amount of clay in it.
Do I need a tooth bucket for this or is a smooth bucket more than enough to break through this stuff? I'd rather go with the smooth bucket if I can (I can only rent one type) to help with levelling.
