Possible cave in after plumber back-filled trench. Do we have an emergency situation on our hands? [Maryland]

Hello all,

My wife and I are first time homeowners of about 45 days. Shortly after closing we noticed our sewer lateral was completely clogged and broken and needed replacing (we have sorted this out with the seller, not looking for legal advice there).

We hired a plumber who excavated essentially our entire front yard in order to replace the sewer lateral. Throughout the process, he broke our front porch which we had replaced, broke our water line which we had replaced, and broke some siding tiles which we had replaced. Needless to say, we have had nothing but extreme stress since moving into our first home.

To get to the point, the plumber backfilled and after everything that went wrong with the job hastily completed his "rough regrading" only 2 weeks after back-filling the trench. He let us know that he needed to leave it as a mound because the ground would settle, and that he would come back after and touch it up. We were happy with this solution at the time because he made promises and we were exhausted.

Cue this passed week, we had two monster storm which have caused the ground to settle in a way that scared me for several reasons. There is a "shelf" that you can walk on but it appears it is hollow underneath forming a canal that leads water directly towards the foundation. It also looks as if the rest of the yard where the trench was could cave in at any moment. Another concern is that the severe settling will damage the PVC sewer line we just had installed.

I am hoping you all could look at the photos below and provide your opinion on the severity of what I am dealing with here, or if I am over exaggerating and the ground is just settling.

Thanks for reading, here are the photos:
