Hi, I have a ditch in my backyard (Raleigh, NC), I assume it is for drainage, but it could have been cosmetic. http://ift.tt/28Yfhug Either way, it seems a bit useless to me, and I've been thinking about getting rid of it. The whole yard grades down towards the back fence a bit, and the ditch dips down maybe a foot or so. It looks like if I filled it in the grade would meet up with the fence perfectly. The neighbor to the right has a yard a few feet higher, it dips down right before the side fence. To the left is pretty much level with me. I though maybe the point was to create a low spot to drain away rainwater.
I guess my question is this feature something that I should think twice about removing? Thanks!
