Fence alternative to keep neighbors "jungle" out of my yard?

Hi r/landscaping!

I'm wondering if anyone has a smart idea on how to solve my dilemma.

We recently cleared an area in our backyard that was overgrown (brush, honeysuckle) and infested with a bunch of poison ivy. We installed some simple edging and are planning on mulching the area to keep it fairly low maintenance:

However, our neighbor pretty much does nothing to his yard. As you can imagine it's quite frustrating, but talking to him so far hasn't helped. The weeds are one thing, but the out-of-control poison ivy (we just had a daughter) is what bothers me the most.

Half of the remaining brush area is on his side of the property line, and I'm wondering if there is anything I can plant or install that would at least keep the creep a little bit under control. I'm guessing there won't be a fool proof way of doing this - and I'm ok with some upkeep - but short of installing a fence (which I don't think we can afford right now), I can't think of any smart ways of dealing with this.

Any ideas or input are highly appreciated. Thanks all!
